Piccolo Fiction Open is a literary component of the Piccolo Spoleto Arts Festival. PFO is sponsored by the

City of Charleston Office of Cultural Affairs,

Blue Bicycle Books,

Dark Sky Magazine,

& Iodine Literary Projects.


It's a fiction competition, otherwise known as a short story contest. Since 1999, the winning stories have been read by the authors during the festival, broadcast by SC Public Radio's Your Day, and published in the Charleston City Paper.


PFO 2008 call for entries~ deadline is postmark April 9th
• cash awards for 3 top stories
• 1200 words max 
• please submit 3 copies
• $5 submission fee
• stories will be shared in various formats during the festival and beyond-- so writers who can make the trip to read in Charleston are encouraged to submit.
