The Book Makers Festival, in Beaufort SC, is a get-together for readers, writers, illustrators and artbook crafters-- and everyone else who makes books the wonderful objects that they are.

This floorplan is an approximation of ARTworks, the 12,000 square foot community arts center that is the home of the Arts Council of Beaufort County (ACBC) in Beaufort Town Center. Regular business hours are Mon-Fri, 10 to5, plus lots of special events. [map to artworks]
The opening reception for the festival is Friday, April 3, 6 to 8pm, please join us at ARTworks in Beaufort.

4 to 5pm Jan Nordby Gretlund shares and discusses his paper ‘Well, I’ll be dawg’: Southern Humor This Minute. Gretlund is Senior Lecturer in American Literature at the University of Southern Denmark, author of several books about Southern literature, and a Visiting Research Professor at USC’s Institute for Southern Studies.

The Book Makers Festival is a progression from the Iodine Literary Conference, Get Your Art Out, A Literary Visual Art Show with Issues, and Tracye Faulkner's I Did It! festival for self-published authors. ACBC is the SC Center for the Book's Literary Arts Advocacy award-winner, 2008.
