2008: Endings
Sponsored & judged by Jonathan Sanchez of Blue Bicycle Book, Lisa Annelouise Rentz of Iodine Literary Projects, Kevin Murphy of Dark Sky Magazine, and Mary Kelly Wilson, a damn pastry chef, at Cypress. The City of Charleston Office of Cultural Affairs is the long-supportive sponsor.

PFO chose four winning stories this year (out of nearly 150), making it the coziest group of winning writers in the competition's nine years.

2008 is also probably the priziest—

First place winner, Lisa Kerr, received an $800 "total design freedom" publishing package from BookSurge for her story Bird's-Eye View (read it here.)

update: Ms. Kerr has published her story, in a collection titled Girl vs. Bear: stories from the 80s.

Additional cash prizes, offered by the City of Charleston Office of Cultural Affairs, awarded to—
Audrey Brown of Summerville for Your Father, Fredrick
Debra Daniel of Columbia for Limits
Wilma Reitz of Greenville for Lost in Murphy's

runner-up Charlie Geer, for All Good Things, was invited to read as well.

All were published in Dark Sky Magazine

Blue Bicycle Books, at 420 King Street in Charleston, hosted the readings.
